"Along the walk are ancestrial halls, temples, traditional schools and a
pagoda, the only one in Hong Kong. I guess few people have been there
before so it's worth a look. It's going to involve very light walking
around the Ping Shan villages, two hours at the most I'd say. We can meet
at either Tuen Mun or Yuen Long, then take an LRT (also part of the
day's programme!). Yuen Long may be easier with Route 3, I reckon."
Wilson Trail 1 at Wilson Trail on 31 Jan 1999
War memorial on Wong Nai Chung Gap to Repulse bay via Tai Tam reservoir (3hrs including transport) (Dominic, Amy, Jackie L., Jessica, Anna, Mei)
Meeting at Heng Sang bank Causeway bay MTR station (Sogo side, NOT Times Square side).
Gorgeous countryside and splendid views.
Bring snacks and drinks
Wilson Trail 2 at Wilson Trail on 19 Dec 1999
French Int'l school via Jardine's Lookout and Mount Butler to Taikoo Shing
The weather was so fine and perfect for hiking. There were eight of us who enjoyed the walk along HK Trail and Wilson Trail #2, and also the afternoon tea at McDonald. Glad to see some new faces too.
Tung Ping Chau at Tung Ping Chau on 10 Oct 1999
Meeting time and place: **8:30am** sharp at ticket office of rail station "University" stop.
Boat leaves from 'Ma Liu shui' pier at 9am HK$70 for a round trip ticket. Boat leaves from Tung Peng Chau at 4:30pm.
Bring plenty of drinks, we shall do a round trip along the coast line of Tung Peng Chau. Jackie informed me that there are some stores which provide hot noodles on the weekends.
How was it? 6 people turned up on a lovely Sunday, the boat ride was about 1 1/2 hours each way. Tung Peng Chau is an interesting small island known for its sediment rock formation which looks like multi-layer cake. The view was beautiful, the hike was a good exercise and nothing beats the install noodle with egg and ham served by the beach.
Tung Lung Island at Tung Lung Island on 3 Jan 1999
Hiking trip 99#1: Sun Jan 3, Tung Lung Island 3km (should be a pretty relax walk) (Dominic, Vanessa, Amy, Candy, Keith, Elaine, Albert, Melvina, Lilly, Jackie Y.)
Please meet at 10:30am SHARP at the ground level of exit A of Sai Wan Ho MTR station, we shall walk from the MTR station to the pier and the last ferry for Tung Lung Island leaves at 11:00am. There are 4 return ferries at around 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
Places of interests: Tung Lung Fort, Nam Tong and Rock Carving.
Even though the guide book mentions there is a restaurant , I'd advice everyone to bring plenty of snacks and drinks. And I'd bring a kite.
The Peak 2 at The Peak on 27 Feb 1999
Pokfulum reservoir to The Peak: (Dominic, Deborah, Jackie Y + 1, Lilly, Amy, Vivian, Philip, Queenie)
Tai Mo Shan at Tai Mo Shan on 24 July 1999
**A Trip to Ng Tung Chai Waterfall** in the Lam Tsuen valley (kindly suggested by Jackie Y.) (Dominic, Irene, Monica, Jackie Y.+friend, May, Florence L., Annie)The entire route will be SHADED (no sunburnt!). We'll go up to all four waterfalls, and return by the same route.
Meeting at the ticket office of Tai Wo rail station at 1:15pm
How was hiking trip 99#13? 8 people turned up on a beautiful day and it was good seeing some new faces! The path was mostly shaded which made the hike that much more enjoyable. Nothing beats the feeling of resting and relaxing by the three waterfalls on a cool summer day, okay okay, perhaps sitting by the beach with a cold drink may score higher. A cold shower after the hike was certainly refreshing.
Shek O at Shek O on 1999
Shatin Biking trip at Shatin on 31 Oct 1998
Shatin to Tai Po and back (Irene, Daniel, Pauline + brother, Dominic, Carlo, Albert, Tony)
The Peak at The Peak on 1999
Organic Farm at NT on Chinese New Year 1999
Ocean Park at Ocean Park on 1999
McKinsey social event
MacLeHose Trail 1 at MacLeHose Trail on 29 Nov 1999
MacLehose Trail section 1, Pak Tam Chung to Long Ke Beach along the High Island Reservoir (Florence, Ami, Irene, Vanessa, Dominic)

Details: We will catch bus 96R from Choi Hung to Pak Tam Chung and starts there. It is a very easy hike, the majority of the path is on tarmac road with a relatively flat profile. The whole route is 10.4km long which takes about 3hrs to complete, but I intend to walk only part of it and then turn back to Pak Tam Chung to catch a bus back to Choi Hung around 6:30pm.
Lung Fu Shan at Lung Fu Shan on 17 April 1999
suggested by Jackie Yip (Dominic, Jackie Y., Simone, Karen Y.)
Meeting at the bus stop for minibus no.2, near the HMS Tamar (same place as no.1 bus going to the Peak).
AN EXPEDITION TO THE PIRATE LAND
This path was said to be used by Cheung Po Tsai the bandit king. Whether this is true or not I don't know. The path starts from Old Peak Road. It encircles the Victoria Peak and then turn into Po Shan Road. At Lung Fu Shan it gets around the disused battery, and finally joins the Pokfulam Reservoir. It was said to be consisting of well shaded footpaths, with a good view of the harbour
at the western end.
