"Along the walk are ancestrial halls, temples, traditional schools and a
pagoda, the only one in Hong Kong.  I guess few people have been there
before so it's worth a look.  It's going to involve very light walking
around the Ping Shan villages, two hours at the most I'd say.  We can meet
at either Tuen Mun or Yuen Long, then take an LRT (also part of the
day's programme!).  Yuen Long may be easier with Route 3, I reckon."

Hiking trip 99#4: Sun Jan 31 1pm War memorial on Wong Nai Chung Gap to Repulse bay via Tai Tam reservoir (3hrs including transport) (Dominic, Amy, Jackie L., Jessica, Anna, Mei)

Hiking trip 99#9: Saturday April 10 1:20pm Lamma Island -- Suggested by Jackie Yip (Dominic, Winston, Karen M.)
Meet at 1:20pm at the outer-island ferry pier in Central. **Ferry leaves at 1:30pm**
Sok Kwu Wan-Mo Tak Village-Shek Pai Wan-Sham Wan
From Jackie:
We'll take a ferry to Sok Kwu Wan from Central.  On arriving we'll take
a clockwise route around the south-eastern coast of Lamma, starting from
Sok Kwu Wan.  It starts with a flat coastal walk to the village of Mo
Tak, and a small but lovely beach at Mo Tak Wan.  Behind the fung shui
wood and the old Mo Tak village we'll turn south to Shek Pai Wan which
is another beach, bigger and lined with boulders.  We'll get uphill and
make our way back to Sok Kwu Wan after the beach.  Mid-way up the hill
you'll find a panoramic view of south Lamma - the largely unexplored
land. Aberdeen can be located at a distance, but the hustle and bustle
of city life seems too remote to bother you now.

The path is concrete-paved and easy. The whole walk takes about 2 hours,
or more if we stop for leisure strolls on the beach.  If there's crave
for more walking after Shek Pai Wan, we can take a cryptic footpath
(which I havn't located yet) down the beach of Sham Wan, the loviest of
all Lamma beaches, and the only beach where green turtle was seen to be
breeding.  This will take another half an hour.

Hiking trip 99#10 Saturday April 17 2pm Lung Fu Shan suggested by Jackie Yip (Dominic, Jackie Y., Simone, Karen Y.)
Meeting at the bus stop for minibus no.2, near the HMS Tamar (same place as no.1 bus going to the Peak).
AN EXPEDITION TO THE PIRATE LAND
This path was said to be used by Cheung Po Tsai the bandit king.  Whether this
is true or not I don't know.  The path starts from Old Peak Road.  It encircles
the Victoria Peak and then turn into Po Shan Road.  At Lung Fu Shan it gets
around the disused battery, and finally joins the Pokfulam Reservoir.  It was
said to be consisting of well shaded footpaths, with a good view of the harbour
at the western end.

Hiking trip 99#11: Saturday April 24 Cape D'Aigular (Southern most part of HK Island) (Dominic, Jean)

Hiking trip 99#12 Saturday June 26: To Leung Ke beach, Sai Kung, suggested by Mei Zhang and friends (Dominic, Irene, Mei Zhang + 5 other friends)
How was Leung Ke, Sai Kung? 8 people turned up, fine white sand and clear warm water just made us want to stay there forever. It's really really nice, you have to experience it yourself.

Hiking trip 99#13 Saturday July 24 **A Trip to Ng Tung Chai Waterfall** in the Lam Tsuen valley (kindly suggested by Jackie Y.) (Dominic, Irene, Monica, Jackie Y.+friend, May, Florence L., Annie)The entire route will be SHADED (no sunburnt!). We'll go up to all four waterfalls, and return by the same route.
Meeting at the ticket office of Tai Wo rail station at 1:15pm
How was hiking trip 99#13? 8 people turned up on a beautiful day and it was good seeing some new faces! The path was mostly shaded which made the hike that much more enjoyable. Nothing beats the feeling of resting and relaxing by the three waterfalls on a cool summer day, okay okay, perhaps sitting by the beach with a cold drink may score higher. A cold shower after the hike was certainly refreshing.

Hiking trip 99#14 Sunday Oct 10 Tung Peng Chau, 8:30am
Difficulty: 1 (very easy, on a scale of 1-5)
Meeting time and place: **8:30am** sharp at ticket office of rail station "University" stop.
Boat leaves from 'Ma Liu shui' pier at 9am HK$70 for a round trip ticket. Boat leaves from Tung Peng Chau at 4:30pm.
Bring plenty of drinks, we shall do a round trip along the coast line of Tung Peng Chau. Jackie informed me that there are some stores which provide hot noodles on the weekends.
How was it? 6 people turned up on a lovely Sunday, the boat ride was about 1 1/2 hours each way. Tung Peng Chau is an interesting small island known for its sediment rock formation which looks like multi-layer cake. The view was beautiful, the hike was a good exercise and nothing beats the install noodle with egg and ham served by the beach.

Hiking trip 99#15: Sunday 21 Nov, Tai Long Sai Wan, Sai Kung
Meeting at 1pm (after lunch) Choi Hong MTR station (Heng Seng Bank), hiking time ~2hrs + rest time. Beautiful beach and waterfall views guaranteed.

Hiking trip 99#16 Sunday 19 December:  French Int'l school via Jardine's Lookout and Mount Butler to Taikoo Shing
The weather was so fine and perfect for hiking. There were eight of us who enjoyed the walk along HK Trail and Wilson Trail #2, and also the afternoon tea at McDonald. Glad to see some new faces too.
